A longtime dream of mine has been to travel to every country in the world. Initially this seemed far- fetched and more of a fantasy than anything. People have told me this journey is nearly impossible to accomplish in a single lifetime. But I refuse to believe that.
I live by a single mantra: “It’s better to see a place once than to have never seen it at all.” it could take one person, one singular moment, even one smell, and you can be changed forever. To be able to see the world in its entirety through my own eyes, and have these experiences with each country, culture and history…well, I can only hope it will make me a better person. Or, at least, make my time on this planet worthwhile.
But of course—to make this a dream realized—I’ll need both time and money. Thankfully, all of this is should be possible with access and diversity of social media platforms in today’s society. I will continue to keep my day job in between the research, planning and travel stages. This will allow me to plan for each expedition properly.
With the Middle East and Africa being the most complicated in terms of visas and safety, I will begin my exploration with these countries first. This will take the longest time to plan and map out logistically. The first leg of this adventure will begin in early 2019.
Traveling alone has given me courage and strength. It has allowed me to not only trust my surroundings, but to put my life in the hands of strangers. I have learned the meaning of empathy, compassion and humility. With each country I visit, I hope to experience a lifetime of memories, knowledge and understanding.
