Wisconsin is friendly state. I visited Milwaukee and Madison and tried to explore some of the local cuisine. Since the state got hit with a snow storm while I was there, I was only able to explore a limited amount. Since it’s known for it’s cheese I had to make that a priority.

Mader’s Restaurant

Mader’s restaurant is one of the most famous German restaurants in the entire United States. The list of politicians and celebrities which have ate at this place is endless. When you walk inside of their restaurant doors you will see the list of some of their famous customers. The servers that work here are also dressed in traditional German attire as well. The menu also offers traditional German food. If you want something authentic then head over here!

L’Etoile

L’Toile Chef Tory is a winner of Iron Chef Showdown. In addition, this restaurant is a James Beard winner. Since I was in Madison during New Years Eve I decided to treat myself to a fancy dinner. It was absolutely delicious! It was a pre fixed menu for the holiday but it was still delicious. The service was also impeccable. The restaurant had large glass windows which gave you close up views of the historic Capital Building.

Fromagination

Fromagination is one of the best cheese shops in Madison. They even give you free cheese tastings of your choice! I was blown away by how delicious the local cheese was. I decided to splurge a bit and buy some bring back to the hotel. If you want to learn more about artisan cheese and the animals from which the are produced from (cow, sheep, etc) then look no further. This shop has been featured on just about every single outlet that you can think of. It’s one of the best cheese shops not only in Madison, Wisconsin but in the entire country.
